How to Set Up Sentiment Alerts That Actually Work

March 22, 2026 · 5 min read

Most traders set price alerts. Smart traders set sentiment alerts. Price tells you what happened. Sentiment tells you what might happen next. Heres how to set up alerts that give you an edge instead of just noise.

The 3 alert strategies that work

Strategy 1: Extreme breakout. Set alerts for when any asset goes above 80 or below 20. These extreme readings are rare and almost always signal a significant catalyst. When they fire, drop everything and check why.

Strategy 2: Reversal watch. Set an alert for when a previously bullish asset (60+) drops below 45. This catches the start of sentiment reversals — the crowd was confident and now theyre not. Something changed.

Strategy 3: Opportunity scanner. Set alerts for when a stock you like goes below 30 (strongly bearish). Extreme bearish sentiment on fundamentally strong companies often marks buying opportunities — the crowd overshoots to the downside.

Alert channels by plan

Trader ($49/mo): Email + SMS alerts — get notified the moment sentiment shifts, whether you're at the desk or away. Set unlimited alerts across your full watchlist.

Dont over-alert

The biggest mistake is setting too many alerts at common thresholds. If you alert on every asset above 60, youll get bombarded. Be selective — alert on the 3-5 assets you actually trade, at extreme levels that actually warrant action.
